Business English

Students learn the fundamentals skills of the various levels of business communication.
Students also
become familiar with the forms and formats of English business communication and have
the opportunity
to practice English in business situations.
Students will be exposed to a variety of business speakers

examples to benefit the students.

For maximum student-to-teacher attention, classes are small with a maximum of five students and

Before your course begins, we send you a comprehensive needs-analysis to determine the exact areas of
Business English you need to improve.
Throughout the course, a weekly review of your strengths and weaknesses will be explained to
you one-on-one by your teacher followed by a goal-setting plan for your remaining weeks of instruction.

In addition to a final review upon completion of the course, students are sent home with a wealth of information
and resources, and more importantly, an established e-mail contact with their teacher for future Business English advice.

In a group, as you will meet other professionals from other businesses and countries, maximize your exposure to a multi-cultural

ESL program foundation

At Central College you will be given a placement test that will give you credit for the English language skills you possess.
Central College will then place you in the appropriate class equal to your current level so you can progress faster and
will not make you repeat levels you have already mastered.

After you have progressed to the intermediate level we will offer you the flexibility to take cour5ses in accent reduction,
lifestyle, business and other subjects to help you gain the abilities that are important to you.

The major emphasis in this program is on conversation fluency in an English speaking environment.
The disciplines of Grammar, Vocabulary/Idioms, Pronunciation, Listening, Reading, Writing and Conversation are all studied
with an integrated approach during this six month program.
Every effort is made to teach at the personalized level of the students in a small class setting.

Conversation is used in all areas of study so that listening skills can be practiced, good sentence structure used, ease of
language acquired and functional use of the language learned and practiced.

Essential Grammar is reviewed and practiced in formal lessons as well as in the communicative context.
Vocabulary is a constant emphasis in all areas of study as well as in a formal approach where topic words are studied using
definitions, examples, and exercises and includes a word form chart that relates the noun, verb, adjective and adverb form
of each word. Specific time is also spent studying Idioms so a good understanding of the culture and language is included.

Reading skills such as guessing words from context, skimming, scanning, and making inferences, although not emphasized,
are studied in a practical context where the development of receptive language and vocabulary is stressed.

Writing is included as a tool to practice sentence structure, proper use of grammar and vocabulary and as a practical way to
function in the Canadian environment. Listening practice is a constant developing process through listening to teachers, taped
conversations, and the practice of formal listening skills in the classroom and field trip settings.
Pronunciation is formally taught in a class where all English word sounds are taught, practiced and constantly reviewed.
Pronunciation is also emphasized throughout all the English speaking time so that each student can be understood and take
pride in their ability to master the language.

Fee: $6,000 for 6 months program

(application fee, activity fee, material fees, etc., are extra cost at approx. $1,000)

& snowboarding, skating and swimming.

Camps are offered in 2 week, 3 week and 4 weeks programs,
